Trying to Turn the Tide

It seems like I have been gone for ages... and I have been. I had taken time off to recoup, take care of myself, my photography business, which has kept me busy lately, and to take time away to spend with my wonderful husband. All I can say is: It was worth it! Every minute of it. I value my sanity now more than ever and take steps to keep perfect balance between my work, hobbies and business, and taking care of myself.

I have now established a new routine: every morning, after getting up at 6 am, I stretch for 25-30 mins, incorporating some Pilate's and Yoga moves. My blood starts flowing and my mood wakes up. I think about the things that I am grateful for and thank God for them. Then I am off to dry brush myself and take a nice warm shower. I take my time getting ready (that is the reason I get up early). I dislike feeling rushed as it leaves me a bit disheveled.

Once I am done with my hair, make-up and whatever else I feel like, I head off to the kitchen and start on making a pot of tea or hot cacao (not the one that comes in a package--real cacao is bitter and rich in taste). While water is heating I move on to making a green smoothie and whatever else I might feel like in the morning and then prepare my and Demetrye's lunch. Once that is done, I indulge in a glass of smoothie and prepare my hot tea/cacao. As I get my work clothes on and get ready to head out the door, with lunch in my hands, I grab my tea and head out the door.

Nice and slow--that is how I like my mornings. When done right, the way we get up, sets the pace and the mood for the rest of the day. And I love having great days all week long.

I also have been keeping my food intake simple and easy to make. Soups, sandwiches, salads, smoothies--nothing that takes long to make. Our diet should not be anything we stress about--after all it is only fuel that keeps our bodies running.

Demetrye and I have taken time away to be by ourselves and went to the beautiful island of Kauai, HI. The week that we spent there was most relaxing: walks on the beach, reading by the ocean, visiting local markets and doing nothing--ideal vacation overall. Here is a quick phone snap-shot of the two of us by our resort (a view right from the doorway of the apartment where we stayed). I even got a tan!!!As I am settling back into my normal day-to-day life and catch up on my photography workload, I am also planning to reenter the kitchen scene and start creating more delicious dishes and start posting on this blog. So, friend, make sure to come back :)

Until next time: Live a Stress-Free Life!
